Lovely Day

Well I'm 27 today! I don't feel much different from yesterday...

In true birthday fashion I am only working a half day today then treating myself to a manicure and PSL (pumpkin spice latte. I hate to brag but Chicago did get them a week early...)

Case in point....met J for a PSL on Tuesday when they made their debut in Chicago!

I'll be going out to dinner with my parents tonight and friend J. Then my parents are coming over to give me my gifts. Yay!! I may be 27 but I still like having my presents on my actual birthday. When I was growing up we would wake up and they would all be next to our bed wrapped up and begging to be opened!

Pre-birthday celebrations included devouring a Crumbs Mint Patty cupcake!

My weekend plans include our family fantasy football draft, sushi dinner and major shopping!

Hope everyone has a happy and relaxing Labor Day weekend!

Who Doesn't Love 3-Day Weekends?

Happy Labor Day, Bloggers! What did your 3-day weekend entail? Mine was incredibly relaxing and low-key. Did some shopping, saw The American (damn you George Clooney, give me my 2 hours back) had our family's fantasy football draft and celebrated my birthday! Phew, what a weekend!

As for my birthday, I'll have to post some pictures once I get them on my computer...for now, it's all mobile shots :) Got some great gifts from the fabulous people in my life. This deserves a post of it's own and I'll do it later this week :) One of my absolute favorite things is champagne. MMM love it! And I received a lovely bottle of Veuve from my friend. Yay!

OK...onward. Saw The American and it truly was bad. Like I checked my cell phone about 12 times. And picked at my manicure. And sent death stares over my shoulder to the slob, I'm sorry, man who was chomping on popcorn and crumbling his bag like an animal. I really wish we would have just seen Going the Distance or something light...After the movie, however, I did see some pretty CLASSY people at the bar/restaurant we went to.
Point in case. This was a MAN. Enough said.

And on to the lovely lady in her leather Pittsburgh Steelers jacket (this is not a shot at the team, don't worry!) It was more fun that she was 1) black-out drunk slamming shots and 2) using her jacket to shimmy up to the band and shake her sexy self for the singer (who is wearing the hat above. seriously.)

And then it was time for the Fantasy Football Draft. Think we got an ok team. I really don't know about these things.

And what is a party without goodies? We had burgers, brats, salads, desserts, munchies, you name it! But NOTHING and I'm telling you NOTHING was a bigger hit than Carrie's Shrimp & White Cheddar Stuffed JalapeƱos. They were spectacular. And easy! The only time consuming bit was cutting the jalapeƱos and getting the seeds out. Note to self...don't then touch your nose. I felt as though I was a dragon for about 40 minutes. I eventually doused a paper-towel with milk and stuffed it up my nose. People, this is not glamorous, it was 100% necessary. I do have a picture, but I don't even think I can share it. Makes my nose burn.

Pre-paprika sprinkling and grilling. They were gone too soon to snap an after picture!

So that was my weekend add in some shopping and Pumpkin Spice Soy Latte heaven and there you have it...

How was your Labor Day Weekend? Relaxing? Crazy? Gone too soon? Hey, at least it's already Tuesday and the work week isn't as long :)

Party on Wayne! Birthday Celebrations

So I turned the big 2-6 today! And for the first time in years, I'm not as excited as I usually am. This, in my opinion, doesn't have to do with my age (come on, 26 is not old!!) but rather I don't need or want a big party. In fact, tonight I'm going to out for sushi with 9 of my favorite friends. Family celebration is this weekend :)

I've never been one who loves huge parties. I go to them, sure, but for my own birthday/graduation/you name it, I like to keep it smaller. I'm sure I'll be the person who has less than 100 people at my wedding and I'm fine with that!

Granted, I had some bashes back in the day (one of my favorite being my 5th birthday because I LOVED my strawberry dress and Twinkles the clown....which would now creep me out)

I took a trip down memory lane and found these old birthday pictures. They had me cracking up and I'm so happy I found them. Click on 'em to make them larger and be prepared for a blast to the (my) past!

I'm puzzled at why I had a 90210 cake at my 8th birthday considering I was WAY too young to watch the show. Probably just wanted to be cool like my cousin, Eileen whose birthday is 9/9 and she was watching 90210 when I was that age....

Now I'm off to Starbucks for a Pumpkin Spice Latte and a manicure. I'd like to thank my sweet dog, Ozzie for two cute sparkly flower hair ties from Anthropologie. He's so thoughtful and has great taste! haha I don't know about your family but in ours we give gifts to our Dog on Xmas, his bday, etc and in return he buys for us. Weird? Maybe. But I find it awesome. thanks mom!

So to all my fellow Virgos out there, Happy Birthday Month!! Celebrate and enjoy it!
